A1 Licence

You will require an instructor for your motorcycle to accompany you during your A1 practical test. The test will take around 20 minutes, and will comprise the modules 1 and 2. Module 1 is held at the training center and focuses on off road manoeuvres such as controlled stop, a slalom, and a figure eight. The remainder of the test is performed on the road, and will focus on your ability to control a motorbike at speed.
Module 2 will focus on riding your motorcycle through traffic and managing junctions. You will be tested in regards to your ability to follow road signs and understand and follow the rules of the road. You will be asked to show your skill at low speeds, and to perform slow control exercises, such as turning left and navigating up and down hill, or turning right and then making a U-turn.
After you have completed your A1 license, you can upgrade to an A2 license after passing your CBT Theory, CBT and Practical Tests. You will be able to ride any A2 category motorcycle and carry passengers.
A2 Licence
The A2 Licence is the second step to obtaining a full motorcycle licence. The A2 licence is a restricted one and can only be obtained by those aged 19 or older with an active CBT. The A2 licence allows you to ride motorbikes that have a maximum horsepower of 47 BHP. However, bikes with more than this are only permitted to 94 BHP.
If you choose to go the A2 route to take, then you must be able to pass Module 1 and Module 2 in your motorcycle test. Both tests are conducted on a motorbike that is eligible for A2 entitlement. Both modules can be booked in the same location as your CBT course and theory test. The A2 route is suited to riders who passed their CBT course quickly and are ready both financially and physically to ride the possibility of a larger motorcycle.
Module 1 of the A2 motorcycle test is an indoor session in which you'll learn how to control your bike, including emergency stops and slow speed maneuvering. Then, you'll take the on-road section of the test where you will be expected to demonstrate hazard avoidance exercises and road positioning. You will also be required to perform life-saving checks and maintain a 2-second gap from the vehicle in front of you. You could make minor errors that can lead to 10 points. This could include not using your mirrors and not maintaining an appropriate distance.
After passing both parts of your A2 motorcycle test, you will be allowed to ride any motorcycle that falls in the A2 category. This includes the well-known Honda CB500F or Yamaha MT-07 model. These bikes aren't particularly powerful, but they are able to take on the most demanding speeds, and provide a comfortable and enjoyable ride.

A3 Licence
The A2 Licence allows riders to move up to larger bikes that have more power. The A2 Licence has additional benefits that you won't get with the CBT. For example, you can ride on motorways and transport passengers. You can upgrade from CBT to the A2 license by completing additional training and passing the relevant practical exams. The A2 license is valid for a period of two years. After that, it can be upgraded to an unlimited A license.
The first step towards obtaining your A2 license is to pass the Compulsory Base Training (CBT) test as well as the Motorcycle Theory Test. After you have met the requirements, you're ready to take the Module 1 or Module 2 practical test. A4 Licence
